About

Object Number: Or1992.09

Collection: Eastern Art

A head of a Buddha made of wood and lacquered red with some gold gilding. The base of the head is marked with the date 1945, so it was probably taken during the British re-occupation of Burma from the Japanese during the Second World War. War and the British acquisition of artefacts sometimes went hand in hand.
