Birdskins

These bird-skins were collected by Frederick Duncan Raikes in the late-nineteenth century. He collected hundreds of wildlife specimens whilst he served in Burma between 1873 and 1901, fighting in the Anglo-Burmese War of 1886. Burma was a hotspot for imperial ornithological research, and it is still home to over a thousand different species of birds.
